A trip to Hogenakal

This is about my weekend trip to a tourist place around 180km,drive from Bangalore.

We actually planned to go to a different place called "Muthathi", cauvery river bank area, which is around 100km drive from Bangalore.

Finally we went to this place with 2 other friends of my husband and their families.

We started around 5:45am today morning. To be frank, I didn't know much about the place when we started. I just knew that it had a falls and was happy that I can take bath in the falls!

I wanted to write in the blog with more information and hence did a search in google to know more about the place.

The name "Hogenakal" means "Smoking Rock" in Kannada. The "peyar kaaraNam" for the same is Cauvery water enters the rocks in this place and the gushing flow of the waters makes it look like "smoke emanating from the rocks".

The parisal "Dinghies"(I didn't know that the name of parisal in english is this before!!-pronounced as dinggee) ride was too good. There were lots of such Dinghies and lots of crowd there. Many of the guys there were enjoying their beer and smoking happily during their ride in the parisal. Though, they were polluting the nature's beauty with the cigar's spell!

We were around 9 of us who went for this trip, with a 5 months baby also in our group! The baby was feeling so hot as the noon came in.We were also very much drained during the parisal ride because of the heat! Can imagine the state of the kid, which doesn't even know to express its feelings. But, was very happy and stunned to see Srihari's(the cute baby name) parents, taking the baby to such places at the very initial stages! (Kudos to Varsha! -the cute mom of the baby)

One more sweety in the group was "Avanti"(I hope I got her spelling right?!). She was all excited about the car drive-with her father overtaking the other vehicles , bumpy road jerks and was also enjoying the dinghies ride nicely.

We had a discussion on what are the differences between ox and bull, rat and mouse etc..during our drive seeing the animals in the road.Though I am yet to find out the differences on the same. Would surely look into it and write about that.

We started back from there by around 1pm. Our return journey was also nice. I was sitting next to the my driver(u all know who my driver is! ;) and was all excited about my driver driving at around 100km speed. I felt that I should also get to learn to drive better and join my driver, in the driving in the highways. Hope this thinking of mine becomes true soon. :)

(Un!)Known! face in walking trial

I go on and off for walking here. For the past two days , I have been going to a new park for walking. The park is very big and neatly maintained. There are lot of people mostly elderly patti’s and thatha’s walking briskly with walking shoes . I was reminded of the quote “Enthusiasm can’t be taught, rather needs to be caught”. A girl with a fluorescent green top and pant waived hands at me. I couldn’t recognize the face. She introduced herself as “Sirija”(till not sure of her name) and we had met before in an other park near to my house, in which I used to go for walk. I was now able to recognize her. She is a MCA graduate and has done her SAP course. She is staying as a PG(paying guest) near to my house. I guess you people most be wondering that I know quite a lot about her and still referring her as “UNKNOWN”. These pieces of information was given to me by her the very first day we saw each other! The best part about our first introduction was she started her conversation by complementing me that I look pretty(fact pa!! J No kadhai or masala added) (I was a bit stunned to hear that from a stranger) and she introduced herself and asked about me as well. As I was quite new to the place, I was not really comfortable in talking to her. I didn’t give much information about me and tried to escape from her!

I believe, she goes regularly to the new parking trial around 6:15am. She asked how regularly I go for walk and ordered (!)(That’s how I felt) me, to come early around 6:15 am and join her for walk.

Lots of thoughts are running through my mind. I felt I am suspecting her too much, though she might be trying to be friendly. On the contrary, felt I need to be this way as I am quite new to the place, language and the people.

I am still wondering if I should talk to this (UN)Known person!!

Put the glass down

Got this article also from my father..... Its meant for all of us. Here it is ... ---A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see & asked the students, "How much do you think this glass weighs?" "50gms!" ... "100gms!" ......"125gms" .......the students answered. "I really don't know unless I weigh it," said the professor, "but, my question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?" "Nothing" the students said. "Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?", the professor asked. "Your arm would begin to ache" said one of the students. "You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?" "Your arm could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis & have to go to hospital for sure!", ventured another student & all the students laughed. "Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?", asked the professor. "No".answered the students. "Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress, and how can I get rid of it?" Now, the students were puzzled. "Put the glass down!" said one of the students. "Exactly!" said the professor. " Life's problems are something like this. Hold it for a few minutes in your head & they seem OK. Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache. Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything. It's important to think of the challenges (problems) in your life, but EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is to 'put them down' at the end of every day before you go to sleep. That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh & strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way!" Remember friends: YOU MUST 'PUT THE GLASS DOWN'

Death of Dr.Rajkumar

Dr.Rajkumar , Kannada actor , aged 77 died due to cardiac arrest. He has been a renowned actor and has raised voice for Kannada people …

A two day mourning has been declared by the Karnataka government.

You might be wondering why am I giving data, which is already there in the news. I do feel about the death of an elderly, well-known actor. The reason behind me writing this post is to express my view on the way this has affected the lives of common people. All major private IT , BPO companies have also declared holiday for their employees. All shops and hotels also remain closed since yesterday evening.

My feeling for the announcement of this holiday is that, the private companies is only to satisfy the Karnataka government and also fearing safety related problems for their employees!
The closure of shops would greatly affect the lives of daily-wage people! As the shops and hotels remain closed, I am afraid how do people who are dependent on the hotels/shops for the foods would be able to manage.

Since morning, we get only Kannada and news channels in cable TV! I guess there are a lot of fan followers of Dr, who would have dictated the cable TV operators to do so and compulsorily make the people in the city to watch the proceedings in the Kanteerva Stadium.

A Real Story

Got this article from my father..my father keeps sending mee lots of inspiring articles...typical HR father :)

As it would be useful for others who are aspiring to get into IIMs,I felt it would have been good if Sarath had mentioned about how he managed to get into IIM, inspite of their tough selection procedures and with their exorbidant fee.

Thought its worth sharing with all..
